Many people have been asking World Treasures of Naples what the difference is between an Alpaca and a Llama.
So today we are dedicating our blog to answering your question.
The main difference between an Alpaca and a Llama is their fur!  Llamas were raised for centuries in South America to carry packs or bags of products, much like a donkey or camel. While, Alpacas have been bred for thousands of years for their fine fiber.
Alpacas have only one coat while Llamas have a very coarse outer coat which produces far less fiber.
Also, Llamas are almost twice the size of Alpacas!
Both animals are very curious, friendly and easily trained and handled, as long as they were not mistreated by their original owners.
Now you know!
